Which thoughts occupy the mind of a woman who dedicated her life to the Socialist dream, and lost her son's love along the way? “No Witches in the Valley” is a story about intergenerational trauma and the ability to overcome it. It is a love letter to my grandmother, whose voice was erased from the pages of history.

Clay Bird is a poignant tale of Sichu, a nine-year-old girl and her dotting potter grandfather. The young adolescent Sichu’s relationship with her grandfather is shaken when her more affluent classmates ridicule her potter grandfather. Sichu reacts to being the butt of the joke amongst her peers by lashing out at her grandfather. Her grandfather passes as Sichu continues to struggle with her young adolescent life. The sudden loss of her grandfather shakes up Sichu once again. To her surprise, she realizes that her grandfather’s creations brought joy to the whole community. This realization helps Sichu find her way out of her sense of loss and emerge stronger and proud of her family and heritage. She celebrates her grandfather’s legacy by reclaiming a clay bird she shattered which had been lovingly put back together by her grandfather.

In La Traversée, a young man sets sail from France in 1911 aboard the S.S. Pretorian, driven by dreams of a better life in Canada. Inspired by a letter he wrote during his voyage, the film traces his emotional and physical journey across the Atlantic. At first enchanted by the ship's bustling decks and vast seascapes, he soon faces the harsh reality of third-class travel—cramped quarters, relentless seasickness, and the toll of rough waters. Yet, moments of beauty, like glimpses of whales and icebergs, rekindle his sense of wonder and remind him of the promise that lies ahead. As the ship approaches the Canadian coast, the sight of Newfoundland’s fishing boats and Québec's riverside villages stirs anticipation for the new chapter awaiting him in the prairies of Manitoba. Aboard the train to his final destination, he is drawn to a young woman, his thoughts turning from survival to possibility. Blending animation, archival photos, and French folk music, La Traversée—created by Noel Fenez and Joanna Simoens—breathes life into a century-old letter. The film serves as both a personal homage and a universal reflection on the immigrant experience, preserving a family legacy for generations to come.

This short film, with cardboard as its central material and protagonist, tells the story of a father who sells his kidney to feed his son—one of the most brutal expressions of extreme inequality.

AfterLife

As the world shifts from day to night, Whilma prepares for her treacherous journey to dreamland. Guided by a sleep inducing podcast, she goes through her bedtime rituals, and begins counting sheep. However, this process is interrupted by one of the sheep mysteriously failing to cooperate. Will she be able to catch him and finally get some rest?
