Dustin was abandoned by his family at a young age. Ever since then, he’s been surviving by stealing. He despises himself but never thinks of changing. Life is hopeless and meaningless for him until he meets Jane - a little girl who lives with her alcoholic single father. Both are outcasts of society, they connect right away and become close friends.

Dustin wants to be a responsible and respectful older brother to Jane besides taking care of her. He wants to be someone she could look up to, so he stops stealing and starts looking for jobs, and the meaning of life.

On Jane’s birthday, Dustin wants to buy Jane a cake. The bakery owner recognizes him as he has stolen money there before. Jane is shocked and confused. Later, the owner calls a group of neighbors to teach Dustin a lesson through violence. Jane steps in and uses her way to save Dustin.
